I hope you are willing to lose around 50 hours of your life, maybe more. Forget about work, school, drugs, etc. But enough silly shit - lets get down to it.
100 years have passed since OOT (Ocarina of Time, one of the Zelda games for the N64, which if you haven't played it, I would suggest you give it a shot before this one.) Gannon once again is trying to get his slimey hands on the Triforce and its up to you to save the world. Except, this world is covered in water, vast oceans come between you and your goal. Anyone familiar with past Zelda games will instantly recognize what needs to be done and the tools you will need to fuck some shit up: boomerangs, grappling hooks, bombs, Hell if I read comic books I would say Link is an under age batman. And speaking of being underage - don't let the cartoony graphics fool you, sure it looks dumb in screenshots, but you won't even notice while playing.
While we are on the subject, Gannon and I have a little something in common, you ever notice how he always kidnaps Princess Zelda? He claims it has something to do with that silly assed Triforce, but we all know whats up. Yeah, me and that Mofo would get along fine - he appreciates young trim to.
But back to the game.
The world is HUGE, now as for actual land to explore, there really isn't that much and the dungeons seem smaller than other offerings. Sailing between Islands will take a good chunk of time, but I found it relaxing. There are some great battles (I hate saying this enemies name) but when you take on 4 Darknuts you will know exactly what I mean. And be ready for major sidequests, get a notebook before starting and jot down notes. Some other things you will get to do:
Grab treasure from the Sea bottom using treasure maps
Play different Mini games
Explore submarines
Fight Giant Octopi
Use a conducting baton to control winds (hence windwaker)
Fly through the air using a giant leaf
Get into cannon fights on the high sea's with pirates
Take Pictures
Own your own island
And much, much more
I cannot do justice to this game, honestly - if you own a gamecube and have enjoyed other Zelda games, or like adventure games. You owe it to yourself to give this one a shot.
Graphics 9.6 The animation is great.
Sound 8.0 Honestly, it's good - But I expect more.
Controls 9.3 The best score I could give with the GameCube controller.
Replayability 7.5 Once I play through a game like this, I have a hard time playing it again.
Bottom Line 10 This game deserves many awards and accolades.
